At Shapes, we have one of the best exercise programs in Lexington. The finest instructors. Outstanding variety. And classes for every fitness level, including introductory classes for first-time participants.


Jingle without the Jiggle

During the weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, there’s so much to do--that it’s easy to let exercise take a back seat to the celebrations. But if you slack off, January invariably arrives and you may find yourself sluggish and grouchy.

This year, greet the New Year with energy and fitness to spare.
Please join us in our holiday group fitness incentive!

Here is how it works –

1.    Fill out the sign up sheet BY NOVEMBER 20th and drop it off with our fabulous front desk staff.    - You can get one at the front desk or from a group instructor -

2.    There will be a grid in the group fitness room – you will find your name on it (first name and last initial only).  For each class you attend, fill in ONE square.  So YOU are in charge of making sure you remember to fill in a square at the end of each class you attend. 

3.    We want to really you to make your health a priority this holiday season – so we are challenging you to attend at least 15 classes over the next five weeks.  When you do you’ll receive - ONE month added to your current membership!  Try for 20 classes – and not only reap the rewards mentally and physically but also – with a killer prize – TWO months added to your current membership!

4.    Everyone who completes at least 20 classes will be entered into a drawing for a FREE ONE YEAR MEMBERSHIP!  Give it as a gift or add it to your current membership!

November 24th   – December 30th


Now for the fine print –

1.    You can only count ONE class PER day!  Please fill in your square AFTER you take the class.  Santa is watching – please be honest. 
2.    The 20 minute Stability Ball Core class only counts as ½ a square.
3.    As always our group fitness classes ARE included with membership – however, the cost of participation in the incentive program is $5.00 and will include an exclusive Jingle Without The Jiggle t-shirt!

Class Descriptions

4x4
This class contains a variety of basic, fun moves with little to no choreography.  However don’t confuse simplicity for intensity!  15 minutes of each:  Step, Kickboxing, Strength Training, core/stretching.  Just need the cardio? – come for the first 30 minutes for an express workout.

Aerobic Weight Training
Combines simple cardio moves weaved into resistance training. No set time frame here, but no muscle group will be left behind. Modifications are shown to offer a low-impact workout when needed.

Body Tone
Total body weight training class taught at a speed designed to teach you proper form and technique as well as proper breathing.  The hour class includes core work as well as an extended stretching segment.  Perfect for all fitness levels.

Boxer Blast
Kickboxing with flare!  This class contains simple choreography with an emphasis on intensity verses complexity.  Not only will this improve Cardiovascular fitness, it will also improve muscular strength, endurance, balance and hand eye coordination without lifting a single weight or learning complicated combinations. 

Booty Camp
Ready for something different?  This dynamic interval class will include body weight exercises, various drills, partner exercises, core work and various methods of torture fun throughout.  There will be no yelling or screaming at this boot camp, just lots of sweat and laughter. 

Cardio Blend
Class combines aspects of cardiovascular conditioning, muscles strengthening, balance and flexibility.  Class format will change from week to week and a variety of cardio methods (step aerobics, hi/lo) will be enjoyed. This class is ideal for those who may become tired of the same old thing and want to spice up their Thursday night.

Fusion
No impact class designed to improve flexibility, coordination, and posture, all while strengthening abdominals, legs, back and glutes.  Perfect class for all levels as modifications are shown.  Monday – emphasis on Pilates.  Sunday – emphasis on yoga.

Hi/Lo Interval
Do you miss the “Old School” method of exercise?  This class combines fun, fitness and sometimes free weights along with some choreography to Step-touch your way to a healthier you!  Hi/Lo or Interval style – start your Monday off right.

Low-Impact
Class designed for those new to fitness, coming back from injury, or in need of a gentler work out for joints. You will learn basic moves while building cardiovascular endurance in a non threatening atmosphere.  This fun class will also include moves to enhance your balance and flexibility as well as toning exercises using light weights.

Power Pump Interval Style
This class combines 5 minutes of weight lifting with 2 minutes of cardio.  Cardio moves are basic yet intense enough to raise that heart rate before heading to the lifting segment.  This class will also end with moves to strengthen your core.

Stability Ball Core
Target that muffin top with moves designed to help you fit into those jeans.

Stability Ball  Challenge
Gain strength, stability and balance by incorporating the stability ball into your weight lifting routine. You’ll receive greater core strength when you combine free weights and the stability ball – weightlifting will never be the same! A fitness ball may take some of the weight off joints or bring the floor closer, but it does not make exercise easier.

Step Aerobics
While the intensity is high the choreography is not difficult to follow.  However, members should have a good base knowledge of step.

Stretch & Strengthen
This class will improve your flexibility, strength, and posture utilizing various stretching techniques.  You’ll leave feeling renewed, relaxed and ready to take on the day.

Yoga on the Ball
A mind and body class that helps you work on flexibility and balance.  Emphasis on breathing and relaxation, while using the stability ball to offer support for your yoga poses.  If you shy away from yoga than this class is for you!  All skill levels welcome!
