Meet Our
Personal Trainers

“I find joy in watching women discover
what they are truly capable of."

--Tara Stamper

With a Bachelor's Degree in Business and extensive experience as a computer programmer, Tara wanted more! In August 2006 she left her corporate job and entered the University of Kentucky's Exercise Physiology Master’s Program. While taking classes, Tara worked as the Group Fitness Coordinator at the Underground, an on-campus gym for students. She trained instructors, designed group classes, created group incentives, and designed a training manual and program for students wanting to pursue certifications in group fitness. Her decision to become an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer grew from her desire to work one-on-one with others, to help them make positive life choices, and to do this with an uplifting attitude.
Tara has been with Shapes since May 2008 as a Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and our very own Group Fitness Coordinator. In February 2011 she took on an additional role as the Director of Shapes Personal Training Department. While taking on a new career and working on her master's, Tara and her husband have also welcomed in two boys to their family. With the support of her husband and Shapes, Tara is motivated and on track to graduate in December 2012!

“I truly believe we are all capable of obtaining our ideal body types as long as we think
positive thoughts, live by the law of attraction, maintain confidence and motivation while working hard for what we want!"

“I love seeing women shine when they've
reached their goals—and I’m thankful

that I’ve gotten to be apart of it.”

--April Fenchel

I’ve been one who always struggled with body image and weight issues. It reached its peak after I had my daughter in 2007. In June 2008 I joined Shapes and developed this love for my new way of life! I have such a passion for exercise and seeing the progression I make through each challenging workout. In 2011 I decided that I wanted to pursue being a personal fitness trainer and was recently certified through AFAA. I love motivating, encouraging, and  assisting women in reaching their goals! Sometimes as a mom we put ourselves on the back burner and our needs always come last, but sometimes we need to take care of ourselves so that we can better love and care for our family.

“Working with my clients, getting to know them, and helping them see their
potential is what it's all about for me."
Thinking outside the box to achieve fitness
keeps our workouts fresh and interesting."
